Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Liu Kang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Reid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kang comes to the cage accompanied by Mortal kombat theme. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Liu Kang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Patrick Reid!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reid gets caught flat footed, as Kang shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Kang is stalling in the full guard.
Kang is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Kang trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Kang avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Reid looks gassed!
Kang working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Reid's head.
Reid should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Kang advances to half guard.
Kang is thwarting Reid's attempts to control the position.
Kang not doing much here.

Kang has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Reid is trying to control but can't.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kang lands a nice short elbow.
Kang moves nicely into side control.
Kang content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Kang is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Reid is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Reid taking punishment in the form of punches.
Reid on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
The referee asks Kang politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Kang prefers to stall for the moment though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Liu Kang just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Kang throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Kang shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Kang takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Reid tries to roll over but Kang keeps him under control.

Reid is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Kang pulls his head out easily.
Kang scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Reid gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Kang counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kang in particular looking to stall.
Reid is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Kang performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

and Kang counters with a nice body shot.
Kang throws the left hand but Reid avoids the punch easily.
Kang throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.


That has opened up Patrick Reid's cut even more.

Kang shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Reid's guard.
Kang has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Kang is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Reid not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Reid is on top in guard.
Reid wants to control from the top but Kang keeps moving.
Kang manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Reid is wriggling around trying to escape.

Kang swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Reid is now in Kang's guard. A big mistake from Kang there, giving up the dominant position!
Kang not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kang on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kang tries to get out of the position.

Reid thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Kang looking to hit a scissor sweep but Reid is one step ahead there.
Reid pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kang is keeping the position for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Kang connects with a single shot there.
Kang throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Kang loads up on a big right hand but Reid slips the punch.
Reid blocks a jab.
Kang scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Reid shoots and misses
letting Kang counter with a right hand.
Reid doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Kang counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Reid's guard now.
Kang with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.


Reid is rocked!
Kang slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Reid is still in real trouble! Can Kang finish him?
Kang connects with a couple of short punches.
Kang controls from within his opponent's guard.
Reid takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Reid seems to have recovered his senses.

Kang postures up and lands a big shot to Reid's brow.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kang not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Liu Kang just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Reid keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Reid with a poor takedown

and Kang counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Reid!
Liu Kang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patrick Reid.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kang landing punches.

Reid tries to hold on but Kang pushes him away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Patrick Reid has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Reid is looking to get to half guard.

Liu Kang showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Kang has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
