PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jorden Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Red (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ellis kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is M.E.T.H.O.D. Man. Jorden Ellis has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jorden Ellis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kevin Red!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Red moves into the clinch.
Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign!
Ellis has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Red is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Ellis has had enough of the clinch but Red keeps him there for the moment.

Red manages to break the clinch.

Red shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Red prevents Ellis from getting the reversal.

Red decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Ellis throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Red counters with a nice double leg into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Red wants to pass the guard but Ellis is keeping the position.
Red has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ellis is proving hard to escape from.

Red decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ellis, up you get!

Ellis fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Red looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Ellis tries to roll over but Red keeps him under control.

Red must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Red accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Ellis has his feet on Red's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Red shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ellis's guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Ellis swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Red closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Red throws an elbow but Ellis slips to the side and avoids it well.
Ellis is trying to get back to his feet.
Red misses with the ground and pound.
Kevin Red has got the better of the ground game so far.

Red decides to stand up, so the ref orders Ellis to his feet.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ellis is trying to get back to his feet but Red has full control of the position and if anything, Ellis has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Red with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Ellis to score with a decent uppercut.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jorden Ellis.
Well Red has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
