PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nils Dacke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Toni Ricester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Nils Dacke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Toni Ricester!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ricester throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Ricester shoots in looking for a takedown. Dacke tries to sprawl out of it but Ricester keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dacke manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Dacke throws a sloppy head kick and Ricester moves out of range easily.
Ricester throws and low kick but Dacke moves out of range easily.

Dacke darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Ricester wants to improve his position but Dacke is controlling well.
Dacke knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ricester on the ground.
Dacke stalling.

Ricester pushes Dacke off and gets back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dacke fails in his attempt to clinch.
Ricester takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Ricester stuffs the takedown attempt from Dacke. Dacke gets slowly back to his feet.

Ricester gets a takedown into half guard.
Ricester performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Dacke is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Ricester tries to stand and escape but Dacke actually recovers to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dacke can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ricester controls the pace.
Ricester postures up.
Ricester working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Ricester controlling from the top position.
Ricester looks gassed!
Dacke looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Ricester thows a big elbow that misses.

Dacke is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ricester is aware though and is defending well.

Ricester stands up from Dacke's guard - Ricester perhaps looking for a knockout.

Dacke gets a takedown into half guard.
Ricester won't allow Dacke to pass to mount.
Dacke is looking to take a break and control but Ricester is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Ricester is concentrating on defense, preventing Dacke from advancing position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ricester trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Dacke trying to control but Ricester is having none of it.
Ricester is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Ricester just holding on.
Dacke sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Ricester tries to improve his position but instead Dacke has taken his back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nils Dacke dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Dacke fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

and Ricester moves into the clinch.

Ricester jumps guard and drags Dacke to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Ricester is trying to keep Dacke in close.
Dacke wants to control from the top but Ricester keeps moving.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ricester keeping full guard, as Dacke tries to pass.
Ricester wants to stand but Dacke is controlling the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dacke is looking to work some ground and pound but Ricester has wrist control.
Ricester looking for a sweep. Not yet Ricester, not yet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Dacke lands a nice hook to Ricester's body. Ricester takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Dacke wants to clinch

and Ricester counters by clinching up.
Dacke is trying to maintain a safe position but Ricester gets an underhook and turns Dacke into the cage.
Ricester is working for takedown but Dacke is calmly controlling the position for now.
Ricester controlling the action here for a moment.

Dacke is trying to trip Ricester. He has hold of a leg but Ricester is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Dacke persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ricester is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Dacke wants to control but Ricester is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Dacke is looking for a sweep. Ricester is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dacke trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Ricester manages to pass to mount!
Ricester trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Ricester might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Dacke kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Poor strikes thrown by Ricester there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Ricester throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Dacke throwing hammer fists to the chest of Ricester. What's that going to do exactly?
Dacke working to try and regain half guard.
Dacke tries to hold on but Ricester pushes him away.
Dacke in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Ricester punishing his opponent with strikes.
Ricester wants to control the pace but Dacke is squirming around nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Ricester is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Dacke has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Ricester throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Dacke because Ricester loaded up on that one.
Dacke holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Ricester tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Ricester lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Dacke hang on?
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ricester tries to control but Dacke wriggling away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Toni Ricester will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Dacke moves into the clinch successfully.
Dacke wants a takedown but no success here.
Ricester tries to circle away but Dacke has him pinned against the cage.
Dacke tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ricester just stands there and leans against the cage.
Dacke fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nils Dacke. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ricester tries to circle away but Dacke has him pinned against the cage.
Ricester is trying to break the clinch but Dacke is controlling him.
Ricester tries to score a body lock takedown but Dacke shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Ricester can't break the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Dacke takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dacke is looking to control Ricester's arms but Ricester gets an underhook and turns him. Now Dacke has his back to the cage.

Ricester decides to pull guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Dacke avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ricester working a defensive guard here.
Ricester looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dacke is one step ahead there.

Dacke is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Ricester can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Dacke controls the pace.
Dacke wants to control from the top but Ricester keeps moving.

Ricester is looking to sinch up a triangle. Dacke throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Ricester's body to avoid the submission. Ricester has instead reached around Dacke's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Ricester arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:03 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Toni Ricester!
