PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Damien Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Damien Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rick James!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Radbod Blank and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jackson has James up against the cage in a clinch.
Jackson lands a shot to the body.

Jackson breaks from the clinch.
Jackson with a body punch. A glancing blow.

James shoots in but no luck this time.
James dives in and grabs Jackson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jackson pushes down on James's head and hops out.
Jackson scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Jackson throws a series of punches but James avoids them all with ease.
Jackson misses with a two punch combination.
James is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Jackson.


It looks like Rick James has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

James gets the takedown into side control.
Jackson tries to improve position but can't.
James throwing shots but missing, from side control.

Jackson is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Jackson is working hard here to advance position.

James swings around for an armbar but Jackson sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into James's guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

James has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Jackson off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Jackson moves into range and clinches up with James.

Damien Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rick James.

Jackson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jackson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Jackson throws a hook to the side of James's head but James sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
James looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jackson is fending him off so far but James persists. Nope, Jackson circles away and we're back to standing.
Nice sprawl there from Jackson as James shoots in.

James changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jackson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
James looks gassed!

Jackson dodges the ground and pound from James.

James goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Jackson turns into him and now he's in James's guard.
Jackson wants to control from the top but James keeps moving.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
James is pulling down on Jackson's head to control his posture.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as James accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
James shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jackson sprawls well. Jackson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. James gets slowly back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rick James showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

and Jackson counters with a series of strikes. James will be more careful next time no doubt.
Jackson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but James moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Jackson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Jackson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but James was well out of range. Poor timing from Jackson.
James displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Jackson throws out the jab.

James is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
James has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Jackson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Jackson is trying to control. James wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

James is trying to maintain the position but Jackson is very close to passing his half guard.
Jackson moves into side control, avoiding the strikes from James.

And that's the end of the fight!
Damien Jackson showed his dominance in that final round.
