PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Danneel Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Briggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Briggs has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Scott Briggs told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Danneel Harris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Scott Briggs!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Steve Montenegro and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harris with a hook.
Briggs looks gassed!
Briggs throws a head kick that misses.
Briggs ducks straight into an uppercut from Harris and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Briggs manages to regain guard straight away.
Briggs is rocked!
It looks like Scott Briggs has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Harris slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Harris sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Briggs's guard.
Harris wants to pass the guard but Briggs is defending well.
Harris takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Harris's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Harris gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Harris lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Briggs is looking to close the distance but Harris sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Briggs crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Briggs is OK because that was naaaaaasty!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Knee). Danneel Harris!
