Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between D Day (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pera Kuukkeli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, D Day!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pera Kuukkeli!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Arvi Lind and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Day looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kuukkeli is fending him off so far but Day persists. Nope, Kuukkeli circles away and we're back to standing.

Kuukkeli has Day up against the cage in a clinch.
Kuukkeli stops a takedown attempt from Day.
The referee is keeping an eye on Kuukkeli - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Kuukkeli landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Kuukkeli lands an elbow inside.


It looks like D Day has been cut.
Day is trying to break the clinch but Kuukkeli is controlling him.
A nice left hand lands by Kuukkeli.

Kuukkeli has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Day clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kuukkeli has Day flattened out and is raining down punches.
Day is breathing heavily.
Kuukkeli lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kuukkeli controls the action.
Kuukkeli throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Day!
Kuukkeli has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Day's body.
Day looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.

Day manages to reverse the position and now he's in Kuukkeli's guard. Nice work there by Day.
Day won't allow Kuukkeli to sweep him here.
Kuukkeli pulls Day in close to his closed guard and prevents Day from doing any damage or advancing position.
Kuukkeli is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Day is controlling him.
Day with a flurry of punches that miss.
Kuukkeli seems keen to control Day's posture.
Day wants to control from the top but Kuukkeli keeps moving.
Day tries to free his leg and advance position but Kuukkeli is retaining full guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Kuukkeli stalling against the cage.

Kuukkeli has clasped his hands together around Day's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Kuukkeli controls the position from side control.
Day is looking to regain half guard here but Kuukkeli keeps moving and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Day is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Kuukkeli has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Kuukkeli working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
A lull in the action here as Kuukkeli stalls from top position.
Day is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Kuukkeli slows the pace down.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Day is looking to regain half guard here but Kuukkeli keeps moving and retains side control.
The referee asks Kuukkeli politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Kuukkeli prefers to stall for the moment though.

Kuukkeli is trying to get an arm triangle but Day is defending well.

Despite being in the dominant position, Pera Kuukkeli just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Kuukkeli closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kuukkeli passes the guard and advances to mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pera Kuukkeli dominated that round.
The cut man is working on D Day's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kuukkeli takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Kuukkeli fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Day, pushing him back against the cage.
Kuukkeli lands a knee to the head.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Kuukkeli obliges.

Kuukkeli has the Thai plumb, controlling the head nicely. He loads up with a big knee to the head and Day goes down! Kuukkeli pounces into side control - this one could be over soon!


Day is rocked!
Kuukkeli lands a nice forearm strike.
Oh Day is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Kuukkeli controlling the position.
Day seems to have got his legs back now.
Day is looking to regain half guard here but Kuukkeli keeps moving and retains side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Day tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kuukkeli wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Kuukkeli controls the position.
Let's hope that Kuukkeli has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

and Kuukkeli counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kuukkeli.
Kuukkeli has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Day is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kuukkeli pulls him back up using the underhooks.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Kuukkeli takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Pera Kuukkeli.

Day with a poor takedown

so Kuukkeli counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for D Day. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kuukkeli keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Day's head.
Kuukkeli slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Pera Kuukkeli showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Kuukkeli moves into the clinch.
Day can't get the takedown.
Kuukkeli putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Day in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Day is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Kuukkeli gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Well Kuukkeli has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
