The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nieds misses with an attempted mid kick.
Nieds tries to land a front kick but Santana steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Nieds swinging wilding here.
Nieds throws a right and a left that Santana avoids nicely.
Santana misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Santana showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Nieds.
Nieds throws a series of punches but Santana avoids them all with ease.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nieds throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Santana.

It looks like Fabricio Santana has been cut.
Santana fails with a takedown attempt.
Weeble Nieds seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nieds throws an overhand right that lands on Santana's shoulder, as Santana tries to avoid the shot.

Nieds missing with a left hand there. Santana was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Nieds goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Nieds throws a hook but Santana blocks it.
A punch combination from Nieds misses.
Nieds misses the shot to the body.
Nieds throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nieds misses with a straight left.

Nieds looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Weeble Nieds is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nieds scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Santana shoots in for a takedown but Nieds shows good takedown defense.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Santana slips under a jab from Nieds.
Nieds throws a right and a left that both miss.
Nieds pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Santana shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Nieds manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Santana trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Santana throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Nieds works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Santana has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Santana drops back looking for a leg! Nieds is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Nieds manages to kick Santana off! Santana jumps back into Nieds's guard.

Santana thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Nieds is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Santana passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Santana is trying to ground and pound but Nieds uses the momentary lack of control by Santana to regain half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Santana stops Nieds from getting back to his feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Santana works his foot free and advances to mount.
Nieds tries to lock up and control but Santana gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Santana looking to isolate an arm here. Nieds doesn't see it coming and as Santana extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Santana!
