Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Phil Berry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cha Cha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Berry comes to the ring accompanied by Tony Allen - Take Me Higher. Phil Berry has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Cha Cha!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Cha as Berry shoots in.
Cha ducks under a wild hook from Berry.
Berry misses with a two punch combination.
Nice defenses there by Cha.
Berry fails with an attempt to clinch.
Cha throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Berry.

Cha closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Berry avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Cha.
Cha tries to pass the half guard into mount. Berry knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Berry pushes Cha off looking to stand but Cha dives back in and keeps control.

Cha looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Berry knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cha on the ground.
Berry has hold of Cha's hands but Cha slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Cha seems to be looking for submissions.
Berry trying to hold on to Cha's head to control him but Cha postures up.

Cha is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Berry sees it coming and defends easily.
Cha looks to land a strike but Berry avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cha throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Cha throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Berry works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Berry not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Cha has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Berry is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cha defends well.

Cha drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Berry dives on top into guard.
Cha is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Berry stays in close to Cha's body and controls the position.

Cha is looking for a triangle here but Berry uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Berry is looking to take a break and control but Cha is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Berry has control of an arm but Cha manages to advance to Berry's back!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Cha is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Berry knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Berry for a finish.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Cha keeps control of the position as Berry tries to break free.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Berry is having to fend off submission attempts from Cha, who is looking to sink in the choke. Cha doesn't have the hooks in though and Berry manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Berry changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cha tries to avoid it but Berry manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cha to the ground. Cha escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Berry tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Cha paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Cha darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Cha drives through with a takedown into guard.
Cha postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Cha drops back, looking for a kneebar! Berry looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Berry looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Berry!

Berry decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Berry shoots in but no luck this time.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Cha is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Berry.
Cha throws a series of punches but Berry avoids them all with ease.
Berry tries to close the distance and clinch but Cha swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Berry looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Cha dives in and grabs Berry's left leg, looking for a takedown. Berry pushes down on Cha's head and hops out.

Berry misses with a jab, cross combination.
Berry shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cha as he avoids it easily.

That was a close second round but I would say that Phil Berry will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Cha misses with an uppercut. Berry saw that one coming.
A jab lands there for Cha.
Cha bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Berry throws a right and a left that both miss.
Cha throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Berry.
Cha shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Berry counters with a left to the body.

Berry pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Cha shoots for a double leg takedown but Berry sprawls well. He's pushed Cha's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Cha takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Berry misses with a combination
and Cha counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Phil Berry is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Cha gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Berry tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cha swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Cha takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Berry throws a right hand that Cha ducks under and follows up with a left that Cha also avoids with ease.

Cha circles away from the clinch attempt.
Cha swings for the body but Berry moves out of range.
Cha has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Berry finds it's way round the side to connect with Cha's head.

Horrible takedown by Berry or perhaps it was just good defense by Cha which made him look bad.

The fight stays on the outside here - Berry looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Cha shoots for a takedown but Berry saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Phil Berry has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cha Cha.

and Cha counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Berry's guard now.
