PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Doe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Czeslaw Kowalsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Doe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Czeslaw Kowalsky!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Felipe Paraventi and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Doe gets the takedown into side control.

Doe is trying to get an arm triangle but Kowalsky is defending well.
Doe grinds an elbow into Kowalsky's temple.

Doe is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kowalsky is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Doe looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Doe scores with a couple of short elbows.
Doe is chipping away with strikes.
Doe working the ground and pound.

Doe stands up and beckons Kowalsky to his feet.
Doe throws a right and a left that both miss.

Doe shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Kowalsky trying to control the position.

Doe won't allow Kowalsky to get back to his feet.
Kowalsky doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Doe drops back looking for a leg! Kowalsky is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kowalsky manages to kick Doe off! Doe jumps back into Kowalsky's guard.
Doe is looking to work some ground and pound but Kowalsky has wrist control.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kowalsky is on top in guard.
Kowalsky trying to control but Doe is working from the bottom.
Doe wants to sweep but no luck.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Kowalsky got a little sloppy there for a moment and Doe has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kowalsky has managed to get both his arms back between Doe's legs - danger averted.
Doe is breathing heavily.

Doe looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Doe wants to sweep but no luck.
Kowalsky trying to control but Doe is working from the bottom.
Kowalsky must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Kowalsky has gone for a leg lock! Doe slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kowalsky's guard.

Doe decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kowalsky gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Doe to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Doe has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kowalsky throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Doe thows a big elbow that misses.
Kowalsky is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Doe is controlling him.

Doe has gone for a leg lock! Kowalsky slips out almost immediately though and dives into Doe's guard.

Doe has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kowalsky can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Doe keeping moving, preventing Kowalsky from controlling successfully.

Kowalsky trying to control but Doe is working from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Doe is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Doe dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Doe fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kowalsky sprawls well initially but Doe persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Doe is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kowalsky sees it coming and defends easily.
Doe trying to mount his opponent but Kowalsky defends it.
Kowalsky really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Doe. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Doe works his foot free and advances to mount.
Doe prevents Kowalsky from getting the reversal.

Doe looking for a guillotine from mount but Kowalsky is having none of it.
Kowalsky is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Doe is landing with some decent strikes but Kowalsky is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Doe looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Doe lands with some strikes.
Doe landing strikes from the mount and Kowalsky is in trouble!

Kowalsky gets back to half guard.
Doe throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Doe drops an elbow to the side of Kowalsky's head.
Kowalsky keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Doe lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Doe is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Kowalsky is looking for a sweep. Doe is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Doe stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Kowalsky to get to his feet.
John Doe is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Doe shoots in for a takedown but Kowalsky shows good takedown defense.

Kowalsky tries to hold on but Doe pushes him away.
Doe fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Doe landing punches.
Doe breaks from Kowalsky's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Doe has isolated one of Kowalsky's arms. Kowalsky looking to fight him off but Doe twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
