PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Bravado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pablo Condor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bravado's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Pray. Condor is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Sepultura - Ratamahatta. Eddie Bravado has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Eddie Bravado!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Pablo Condor!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bravado misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Condor throws a right and a left that both miss.
Pablo Condor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Condor fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Bravado throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Condor's waist but Condor gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bravado off to one side.
Bravado slips under a jab from Condor.
Condor keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Bravado connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Condor's hands.
Condor defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Bravado.

Condor throws a looping overhand right but Bravado ducks down to avoid it.

Condor stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Bravado.
Condor will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Condor walks into a straight right hand from Bravado.
Bravado throws a right hand that Condor ducks under and follows up with a left that Condor also avoids with ease.
Bravado lands with a shot to the body.
Condor throws the left hand but Bravado avoids the punch easily.
Bravado misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Condor steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Bravado.
Condor falls off balance throwing a combination
and Bravado counters with a good low kick that Condor was not able to check.

Bravado throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Bravado counters with a lovely straight right hand!

and Bravado connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Bravado misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Condor.
Condor throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Bravado finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Bravado scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Condor doesn't seem bothered though.
Condor scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

and Bravado counters with a leg kick.

Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Bravado. Condor shrugs it off though.
Bravado ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Bravado throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Condor's head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bravado feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Condor's calf.
Bravado connects with a single shot there.
Bravado cracks Condor with an open hand slap.

Bravado thuds his right hand into Condor's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Bravado shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Condor as he avoids it easily.
Condor misses with a double jab

and Bravado decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Condor's guard.
Condor wants to stand up but Bravado is controlling him.
Bravado wants to control from the top but Condor keeps moving.
Bravado trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Bravado won't allow Condor to get back to his feet.
Bravado loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bravado trying to control but Condor is working from the bottom.

Condor manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Bravado throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Condor has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Bravado finds it's way round the side to connect with Condor's head.
Bravado scores with a jab.

Bravado gets the takedown into side control.
The ground and pound from Bravado seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Bravado tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bravado has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The fighters circling - Condor throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Bravado shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Condor napping and manages to drive through into side control!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Bravado is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Condor is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Bravado creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Condor sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Condor is trying to get back to his feet.
Bravado misses with the ground and pound.
Condor wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Condor is breathing heavily.
Bravado throws a strike aimed at the side of Condor's head but Condor avoids it well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Condor tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bravado was well out of range. Poor timing from Condor.
Pablo Condor is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Bravado looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Condor is trying to stand up here but Bravado is controlling him well.
Bravado has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Bravado throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Condor won't allow Bravado to pass to mount.

Bravado is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Condor has managed to free his arm - good work.

Condor tries to escape but Bravado is in control.
Bravado fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Bravado moves into full mount!
Condor really wants to buck Bravado off and get back to his feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Condor wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Bravado.

Bravado is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Condor has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Condor!

Bravado working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Condor doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Condor manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

letting Bravado counter with a right hand.

and Bravado counters with a shoot takedown. Condor fights it but they end up in guard.
Condor wants to stand up but Bravado is controlling him.
Bravado is looking to work some ground and pound but Condor has wrist control.
Condor takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Bravado drops back, looking for a kneebar! Condor looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Condor looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Condor!

Condor stands up.

Bravado bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Bravado is putting a hurting on Condor here, landing some big shots from side control.
Condor is trying to get back to his feet.
Bravado is looking to take a break and control but Condor is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Condor pushes Bravado away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Bravado gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Bravado lands a few punches from side control.

Bravado working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Condor is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Bravado is controlling him well.

Bravado is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Condor knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Bravado ducks under a wild hook from Condor.
Pablo Condor has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Condor might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Condor tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Condor takes a swing at Bravado's ribcage but misses.
Bravado lunges at Condor with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Condor's hand.

Bravado drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Eddie Bravado is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Bravado lands a decent elbow from side control.

Eddie Bravado showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Bravado has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
