The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Elias misses with a looping left.

Riffel shoots for a takedown but Elias saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Riffel should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Riffel accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Riffel drops back looking for a leg! Elias is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Elias manages to kick Riffel off! Riffel jumps back into Elias's guard.
Elias knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Riffel on the ground.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Elias counters with a stiff right hand.
Elias swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Elias throws a hook but Riffel avoids it easily.
Riffel moves out of range as Elias strikes.

Riffel bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Elias gets caught flat footed, as Riffel shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Elias wants to get back to his feet but Riffel is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Riffel drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Elias manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Riffel has Elias in his guard.
