The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
veenstra is trying hard to land a takedown here. Silva sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Silva throws a series of punches but veenstra avoids them all with ease.
Silva throws a right and a left that both miss.
Silva doesn't manage to clinch there - veenstra circles away.
Silva scores with a body shot.
Silva throws a wild body kick that veenstra sees coming a mile off.

veenstra shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Silva can do anything to dispel that myth.
Silva utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
veenstra advances to half guard.

Still in half guard, Silva seems content to control.
veenstra is looking for a sweep. Silva is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
veenstra changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Silva tries to avoid it but veenstra manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Silva to the ground. Silva escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Silva throws a left that rocks veenstra and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Silva dives into side control, looking to finish! Can veenstra regain composure!

Oh veenstra is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Silva is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Silva stands up and we're back to a striking position.
veenstra seems to have got his legs back now.
veenstra swats away the attempt to clinch by Silva.
Silva connects with a stiff jab that staggers veenstra - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!
