The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wellington shoots for a takedown but Koppel saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Wellington shoots for a double leg takedown but Koppel sprawls well. He's pushed Wellington's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Koppel has his takedown stuffed

and Wellington counters with a shoot takedown. Koppel fights it but they end up in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
