The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oliveira fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Oliveira misses with the combination.
Oliveira fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
McDown dodges the punch combination from Oliveira.
Oliveira cracks McDown with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Oliveira scores with a crisp jab that stopped McDown in his tracks.
Oliveira will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Oliveira throws a series of punches but McDown avoids them all with ease.
Horrible takedown by McDown or perhaps it was just good defense by Oliveira which made him look bad.

McDown has knee on belly and moves into mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Oliveira wants to control but McDown is having none of it.

McDown jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Oliveira manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Oliveira is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Oliveira really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

McDown is looking to take a break and control but Oliveira is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Oliveira gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
McDown is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Oliveira wants to control but McDown passes into side.
Oliveira is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Oliveira is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
McDown in side control, throwing shots but Oliveira defends.
Oliveira tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but McDown wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Oliveira is looking for a sweep.

McDown is trying to get an arm triangle but Oliveira is defending well.
McDown looks gassed!

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
McDown tries to score a power double leg takedown but Oliveira sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten McDown somewhat.
Gabriel Oliveira seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McDown showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Oliveira.
Nice sprawl there from Oliveira as McDown shoots in.
Oliveira shoots in for a double leg but McDown sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Oliveira is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but McDown frees his head nicely. Oh but Oliveira has switched to an armbar! McDown is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
