The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua avoids the body shot from Jean.
Jean misses with an attempted mid kick.
Jean misses with a double jab.
Jean looks to land a combination but Rua avoids it well.
Jean throws a right hand that Rua ducks under and follows up with a left that Rua also avoids with ease.

Jean gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Jean had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rua defends it easily.

Jean looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Rua loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Rua drops back looking for a leg! Jean is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jean manages to kick Rua off! Rua jumps back into Jean's guard.

Rua has gone for a leg lock! Jean slips out almost immediately though and dives into Rua's guard.

Rua had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jean defends it easily.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rua can do anything to dispel that myth.

Rua escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jean gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Jean makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jean wants to control from the top but Rua keeps moving.

Rua is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Rua looks gassed!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Jean sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Rua's guard.

Rua is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jean pulls his head out easily.
Rua is not content to let Jean control the position.
Jean working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Rua has hold of Jean's hands but Jean slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Jean drops an elbow to the side of Rua's head.
Rua is staying active underneath Jean, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Jean passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Rua!

Jean has hold of Rua's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Rua manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Jean is trying to work for a kimura but Rua is defending well.

Jean seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Rua is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
