The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Edberg throws a right hand that Machida ducks under and follows up with a left that Machida also avoids with ease.
Edberg jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Edberg takes a swing at Machida's ribcage but misses.
Machida throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Machida fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
A slapping leg kick lands for Edberg.
A big right from Machida misses.

Machida scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Edberg dodges the ground and pound from Machida.
Edberg is not content to let Machida control the position.
Edberg takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Edberg throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Machida sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Machida uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Edberg.
Stefan Edberg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Edberg throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Machida throws a body punch but Edberg moves out of range.

Edberg lands a big head kick that sends Machida tumbling to the mat! Edberg takes a step backwards and waves Machida back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Magnus Machida has been cut.
Machida scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Edberg's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Stefan Edberg is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Edberg throws the left hand but Machida avoids the punch easily.

Machida instigates a clinch.
Edberg wants to break free but Machida has control.

Machida has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Edberg uses from the top position.
Edberg must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Edberg rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Machida moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Machida just misses with a punch to the body.

Edberg steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Machida is out on his feet! Edberg sets himself and nearly takes Machida's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!
