Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brain Mutu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Grant Warburton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grant Warburton is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Brain Mutu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 1, fighting out of London, Grant Warburton!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Ackerman and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mutu swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Warburton tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mutu swivels and escapes.
Warburton throws a nice looking combination but Mutu bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
A swing and a miss from Mutu.

Mutu shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Warburton manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Mutu throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Warburton works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Mutu pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Warburton is keeping the position for now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Warburton has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Mutu bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and Warburton counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Warburton.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Mutu tries to break free but Warburton pushes him back against the cage.

Warburton is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Mutu can't fight it off and eventually Warburton manages to take the fight to the floor. Mutu looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Mutu drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Warburton is trying to get back to his feet.
Mutu creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Warburton is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Mutu asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Mutu connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Warburton some visible discomfort.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Mutu shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Warburton but Warburton pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Mutu's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Warburton wants to stand up but Mutu is controlling him.

Warburton trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Warburton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Warburton wants to get back to his feet but Mutu is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Mutu tries to free his leg and advance position but Warburton is retaining full guard.
Mutu loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Warburton lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Mutu has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Mutu and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Warburton uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Mutu.
Good standup being displayed there by Mutu as he connects with a hook.
Mutu looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mutu shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
letting Warburton counter with a right hand.

Mutu shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Warburton avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Mutu.

And that's the end of the fight!
Brain Mutu showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mutu, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
