PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Scotty Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Molina (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Molina has chosen Cowboys from Hell as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Molina keeps the fight on the outside.

Molina changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Johnson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Johnson wants to control but Molina postures up.
Johnson is trying to get back to half guard.
Molina tries to advance to mount but Johnson denies him.

Molina decides to stand up, so the ref orders Johnson to his feet.
Johnson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Molina counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Molina is looking to advance position but Johnson won't allow it.

Johnson wants to get back to his feet but Molina is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Molina postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Johnson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Molina, into his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Molina is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Molina has his foot on Johnson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Johnson works his way back into a safe position though.

Johnson wants to control but Molina is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Molina connects with a nice short shot to Johnson's temple.

Molina is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Molina has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Molina has hold of Johnson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Johnson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Molina breaks from Johnson's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Molina postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Johnson looks a forlorn figure.

Molina is working to isolate an arm here. It's a choreographed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Molina extends the arm and Johnson is forced to tap!
