The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice combination there by Thompsonn.
Thompsonn misses with a jab, cross combination.
Thompsonn misses with the combination.
Thompsonn is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Thompsonn misses with a head kick.
Thompsonn looks to land a right hand but Ferreira moved out of range.
Thompsonn lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ferreira circles away quickly and effectively.
Thompsonn displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ferreira.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Thompsonn throws a head kick but Ferreira moves out of range.

Ferreira fails with a takedown attempt.
Thompsonn throws a head kick but Ferreira moves out of range.
Thompsonn closes the distance but Ferreira moves to the side

and Ferreira counters with a nice double leg into side control. Thompsonn won't be happy with that.

Ferreira stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Thompsonn wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Ferreira has him pressed against the ropes.
Ferreira wants a takedown but no success here.
Sean Thompsonn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Afonso Ferreira.

Ferreira jumps guard but Thompsonn stands there with Ferreira around his waist. Ferreira gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

and Ferreira counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Thompsonn's guard now.
Thompsonn will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Thompsonn wants to stand and escape but Ferreira is having none of it.

Ferreira postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Thompsonn is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ferreira, into his guard.

Ferreira is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Thompsonn defends well.

Ferreira is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Thompsonn drops back looking for a leg! Ferreira is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ferreira manages to kick Thompsonn off! Thompsonn jumps back into Ferreira's guard.

Thompsonn got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ferreira has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Thompsonn has managed to get both his arms back between Ferreira's legs - danger averted.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Thompsonn wants to control from the top but Ferreira keeps moving.

Donk. Ferreira catches Thompsonn right on the button with a cross.

Ferreira shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ferreira was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Ferreira swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Thompsonn is now in Ferreira's guard. A big mistake from Ferreira there, giving up the dominant position!

Ferreira is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Thompsonn rolls with it to try and escape but Ferreira cranks on the arm and Thompsonn is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
