The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DeAngelo tries to clinch up but Hardy circles away and keeps his distance.
Hardy displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from DeAngelo.

Hardy fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. DeAngelo sprawls well initially but Hardy persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Hardy frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

DeAngelo wants to control but Hardy is having none of it.

Hardy lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
DeAngelo tries to reverse the position but Hardy maintains control.

Hardy is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, DeAngelo has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Hardy seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down DeAngelo for as long as he can get away with.
DeAngelo is looking to get to half guard.

Hardy has hold of DeAngelo's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and DeAngelo manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Hardy fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Hardy stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Hardy moves into the clinch successfully.
DeAngelo jumps guard but Hardy stands there with DeAngelo around his waist. DeAngelo gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

A nice right hand lands inside from Hardy.
DeAngelo has a couple of punches blocked by Hardy.

Hardy turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
DeAngelo is trying to escape the position but Hardy is controlling the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Hardy counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in DeAngelo's guard now.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hardy passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for DeAngelo!
