Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between paulie mandolla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Kain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). mandolla comes to the cage accompanied by Henry Rollins:Liar. Patrick Kain is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kain closes the distance and clinches.
mandolla tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
mandolla's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Kain wants to break the clinch but can't.

Kain pulls guard successfully.
Kain not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
mandolla in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

mandolla stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Kain stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kain wants it to stay on the feet.

Kain lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kain moves into the clinch successfully.
Kain is working for takedown but mandolla is calmly controlling the position for now.

mandolla's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
mandolla shoots for a double leg takedown but Kain sprawls well. He's pushed mandolla's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Kain lands a left and a right that send mandolla crashing to the mat, dazed. Kain thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kain closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Kain should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Check out the look on Kain's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

A frustrated look appears on mandolla's face as he tries to break the clinch.
mandolla tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kain just stands there and leans against the cage.

mandolla escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kain throws a nice looking combination but mandolla bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
mandolla takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

paulie mandolla's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Kain tries to clinch but mandolla moves out of range.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kain is looking to advance position but mandolla has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Kain is in all sorts of trouble here.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
mandolla takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
mandolla breaks Kain's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
mandolla stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kain swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Kain looks to land a combination but mandolla avoids it well.

Kain seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
