PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bing Boom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fedor Belfort (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boom comes to the cage accompanied by NokiSowa. Bing Boom looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bing Boom!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fedor Belfort!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Kenichi Hosakawa and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Belfort closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Belfort lands in his opponent's guard.
Belfort is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Belfort's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Belfort wants to control from the top but Boom keeps moving.

Despite being in the dominant position, Fedor Belfort just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Belfort jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Boom lands with an uppercut that bounces Belfort off the cage and back into rage.
Boom fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Belfort.

Belfort feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Well, if Belfort is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Boom makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Boom.
Boom is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Belfort stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Boom swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fedor Belfort dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


A nice leg kick lands there from Boom.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Boom stuffs the takedown attempt from Belfort. Belfort gets slowly back to his feet.

Boom breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Boom connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Boom, as that shot connected.
Belfort walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Boom lands with a cross.

Belfort lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Boom!

Belfort is landing with some decent strikes but Boom is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Belfort pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Boom is in a horrible position here. Belfort smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Belfort jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Boom is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Boom and Belfort has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Belfort looks to land a combination but Boom avoids it well.
Bing Boom is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Boom works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Boom throws a right and a left that Belfort avoids nicely.

Boom shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Belfort's guard.

Boom scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Belfort doesn't seem bothered though.
Boom cracks Belfort with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Boom thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Belfort if he has to take too many more of those.

Boom looks to throw the jab but Belfort is out of range.
Boom throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Belfort on the side of the head.

Bing Boom has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fedor Belfort.

Boom has taken the fight to the clinch.
