PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between dustin wells (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and the master (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, dustin wells!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, the master!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
master shoots for a takedown but wells saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
master tries for a takedown but wells sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
wells fails with an attempt to clinch.
master shoots in for a takedown but wells shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
dustin wells has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of the master.

master shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. wells manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
master throws a big right hand that misses.
wells trying to keep a closed guard but master is proving a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

master wants to pass the guard but wells is keeping the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

wells manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. master manages to get himself to full guard.

master has his foot on wells's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. wells works his way back into a safe position though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

wells shoots in and bounces master off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

That was a close round but I would say that dustin wells will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
master fails with the takedown

and wells counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
master is looking to improve his position.

wells escapes and gets back to his feet.

and master counters with a nice double leg into side control. wells won't be happy with that.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

master decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
wells tries a low kick but master avoids it.
master fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but wells avoids it really well and circles away.
master has a takedown stuffed.

and master counters with a single leg into guard. wells didn't expect that.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

the master showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

wells jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… master is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by master and wells has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

master is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
wells fails to land a wild elbow strike.

master is pushing wells's head away, looking to escape. wells manages to hold on to the position though.
master tries to buck wells off but wells is having none of it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
master has his takedown stuffed

and wells counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
master avoiding damage as wells throws knees to the body.
master fails to pull guard.
master jumps guard but wells stands there with master around his waist. master gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

wells pulls master in close to his closed guard and prevents master from doing any damage or advancing position.

master is trying to control the action in half guard but wells is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

the master comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think master has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
