PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Uwe Hirschmann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hirschmann comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Ein Zwei Polizei kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mike West!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Uwe Hirschmann!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Nard Betker and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
West tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A right-left combo lands from Hirschmann.
Hirschmann misses with a wild combination.
Uwe Hirschmann seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
West swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Nice defenses there by Hirschmann.
Hirschmann throws a combination but it was largely blocked by West.
Hirschmann lands a right hook to the body.
Hirschmann ducks down and throws a hook to the body but West moves away.
Hirschmann on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Hirschmann leaves West with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hirschmann throws a right and a left that both miss.
Hirschmann fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hirschmann scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. West doesn't seem bothered though.
West tries to bum rush Hirschmann with a series of wild strikes but Hirschmann uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and West counters with a single leg into guard. Hirschmann didn't expect that.
Hirschmann bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in West's guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Hirschmann thows a big elbow that misses.
Hirschmann pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. West is keeping the position for now.
West is breathing heavily.

Hirschmann drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hirschmann jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
West is pulling down on Hirschmann's head to control his posture.

Hirschmann pushes down on West's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Hirschmann throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
West won't allow Hirschmann to pass to mount.
West is in trouble now - Hirschmann has advanced to mount!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
West tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Hirschmann wants to finish this one by submission but West is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Hirschmann.

Hirschmann moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, West has worked his arm free - good work by West!
Hirschmann in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Hirschmann works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Hirschmann tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hirschmann has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hirschmann working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Hirschmann goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, West has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Hirschmann but great work by West.
Hirschmann tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but West presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

West fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
West trying to control but Hirschmann is having none of it.
Hirschmann sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Hirschmann tries to get to full guard but West has control of the leg.
West is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
West seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hirschmann does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Uwe Hirschmann dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

West on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
The crowd cheers as Hirschmann lands an impressive looking overhand right. West doesn't seem phased though.
West throws a series of punches but Hirschmann moves out of range.
Mike West is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
West wants to clinch
and Hirschmann counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Hirschmann is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
West misses the shot to the body.
Hirschmann lands a jab to West's midsection.

and West counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
West throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hirschmann.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

No joy there for Hirschmann, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Uwe Hirschmann is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
West takes a swing at Hirschmann's ribcage but misses.
Hirschmann throws a one two combo.
Uwe Hirschmann seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Hirschmann's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Hirschmann duly obliges.
Hirschmann lands a two punch combo.
Hirschmann tries to clinch but West is having none of it.
Hirschmann lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.


West is rocked!
Hirschmann connects with a crisp jab.
Oh West is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
A right-left combo lands from Hirschmann.
Hirschmann cracks West with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends West tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Hirschmann pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! West is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Uwe Hirschmann!
