Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chris Macklin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Abe Jefferson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Macklin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Abe Jefferson!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Dean Styles and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Jefferson or perhaps it was just good defense by Macklin which made him look bad.
Jefferson slaps away a takedown attempt from Macklin, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Jefferson dives in and grabs Macklin's left leg, looking for a takedown. Macklin pushes down on Jefferson's head and hops out.
Macklin throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Jefferson.


It looks like Abe Jefferson has been cut.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Macklin is trying desperately to improve position.

Jefferson is looking to take a break and control but Macklin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jefferson tries to score with some ground and pound. Macklin controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Jefferson lands a decent elbow from side control.
Jefferson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Macklin closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jefferson to the mat! Jefferson manages to get full guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Chris Macklin will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Jefferson clobbers Macklin with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Jefferson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Macklin swivels and escapes.
Jefferson closes the distance and clinches up with Macklin, looking for a takedown. Jefferson pushes Macklin against the cage but Macklin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Macklin is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jefferson defends well.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Macklin lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Macklin is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Jefferson is defending well for now.
Macklin jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jefferson walks away with a smile on his face. Macklin gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Abe Jefferson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Jefferson wants to control but Macklin is keeping busy.
Macklin is looking to advance position but Jefferson won't allow it.
Jefferson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Macklin wanted to stand there but Jefferson had control of the position.

Macklin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Jefferson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Macklin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Macklin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jefferson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Macklin wants to control from the top but Jefferson keeps moving.

Macklin postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jefferson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Macklin, into his guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Macklin takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Jefferson is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Jefferson's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Abe Jefferson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Jefferson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
