PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Miles DAvis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sal Zork (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). DAvis comes into the arena with Miles DAvis - someday my prince will come blaring out of the sound system. Zork has chosen Rise Against - Behind Closed Doors as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zork gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
DAvis jumps guard but Zork stands there with DAvis around his waist. DAvis gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
DAvis fails to pull guard.

Zork pulls guard.
DAvis looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
DAvis trying to control the position from guard on top but Zork is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Zork escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. DAvis gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

DAvis is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
DAvis not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

DAvis won't allow Zork to get back to his feet.
DAvis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
DAvis seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
DAvis sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Zork's guard.

Zork wants to improve his position but DAvis is controlling well.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Zork is refusing to be controlled, as DAvis sits in half guard.

DAvis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Zork is just riding it out for now. DAvis eventually gives up the hold.
DAvis is taking a breather. Zork says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

DAvis throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Zork was covering up waiting for the punch and DAvis finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zork is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

DAvis is refusing to be controlled, as Zork sits in half guard.

Miles DAvis dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

DAvis tries for a takedown but Zork sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Zork fails with an attempt to clinch.
The fighters circle momentarily. Zork darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Zork connects with a nice looking jab.
DAvis shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Zork sprawls well. Zork wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. DAvis gets slowly back to his feet.

Zork shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Zork showed some decent athleticism there.

Zork is pressing down on DAvis's thigh, looking to free his foot. DAvis is holding on for now.

Zork thows a huge punch but DAvis dodges it nicely.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
DAvis tries to get to full guard but Zork has control of the leg.
Zork wants to take a breather but DAvis is having none of it.

DAvis fails to move to back control.
Zork is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
DAvis misses with a head shot.

Zork is working to get back to half guard.
Zork regains half guard.
DAvis is looking to take a break and control but Zork is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
DAvis throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

DAvis is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Zork has managed to free his arm - good work.
Zork gets back to full guard.

Sal Zork showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Horrible takedown by DAvis or perhaps it was just good defense by Zork which made him look bad.
Zork fails with an attempt to clinch.
Zork tries to close the distance and clinch but DAvis swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
DAvis swats away the attempt to clinch by Zork.
DAvis rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Zork moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

DAvis fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Zork sprawls well initially but DAvis persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Zork is trying to maintain the position but DAvis is very close to passing his half guard.
Zork gets full guard.
DAvis is stalling in the full guard.
DAvis stopping the sweep attempt from Zork.

Zork trying to keep a closed guard but DAvis is proving a slippery customer.

DAvis drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and DAvis jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Zork wants to sweep but no luck.
Zork is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Zork is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and DAvis dives into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

DAvis in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Zork is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
