PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ajax Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyson Slater (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jr's entrance music is Arnold McCuller...NOWHERE TO RUN.. A fine choice. Slater has chosen War Machine by AC/DC as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Reed Andrews and John Kavanagh.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jr wants to clinch up but Slater keeps it at a distance.

Slater gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jr to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Slater wants to sweep but no luck.
Jr trying to control the position from guard on top but Slater is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Slater is adopting a defensive guard.
Jr throws and elbow that misses. Slater uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jr's guard. Nice move by Slater!
Jr is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Slater is controlling him.
Slater wants to control from the top but Jr keeps moving.

Slater stands and steps away. Jr gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Slater closes the distance and clinches up with Jr, looking for a takedown. Slater pushes Jr against the cage but Jr circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Slater decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jr's guard.

Jr pushes Slater off and gets back to his feet.
Slater throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jr's waist but Jr gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Slater off to one side.
Ajax Jr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tyson Slater.

Ajax Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Slater is looking to clinch but Jr is avoiding it.

Slater working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Slater is controlling the pace.
Slater lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Slater winds up and cracks Jr with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Slater slips a nice elbow through Jr's hands, connecting with Jr's forehead.
Jr is looking for a sweep. Slater is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Slater is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jr is just riding it out for now. Slater eventually gives up the hold.
Slater drops an elbow to the side of Jr's head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jr throws a series of punches but Slater avoids them all with ease.

Jr looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

That's time! Jr's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Jr gets caught flat footed, as Slater shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Slater is pushing down on Jr's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jr is fighting to maintain full guard but Slater has managed to sneak the leg through.
Slater thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jr's head.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jr throws a nice looking combination but Slater bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Slater is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Jr wants to get back to his feet but Slater is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Slater decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jr, up you get!

Jr tries to bum rush Slater with a series of wild strikes but Slater uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Slater thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Slater is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Jr has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Slater is looking to defend but Jr has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Slater! Jr pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Slater taps out and this one is all over!
