Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dirk Pitt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raul Esteves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pitt kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Dancing in the Dark. Esteves has chosen The Message as his entrance music. Dirk Pitt has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Raul Esteves!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Paulo Santos and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pitt throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Nice defenses there by Esteves.
Esteves throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Pitt stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Pitt tries to bum rush Esteves with a series of wild strikes but Esteves uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Pitt lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.


It looks like Raul Esteves has been cut.
Pitt moves out of range of the strikes.
Esteves misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Pitt.
Donk. Pitt catches Esteves right on the button with a cross.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pitt thows a body shot but no joy.
Pitt misses with a hook.
Esteves avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Esteves misses with an uppercut.
A swing and a miss from Pitt.

Pitt scores with a jab.
Esteves works the jab nicely.


It looks like Dirk Pitt has been cut.
Esteves uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Pitt.
Pitt misses with a two punch combination.
Pitt jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Pitt rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Esteves moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Esteves takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pitt on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Esteves misses with a wild body shot.
Pitt swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Pitt connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Pitt jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.


That has opened up Raul Esteves's cut even more.
Pitt keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Esteves takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Esteves throws an overhand right that lands on Pitt's shoulder, as Pitt tries to avoid the shot.
Pitt throws a hook but Esteves avoids it easily.
Esteves tries to close the distance and clinch but Pitt swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Esteves is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Pitt rather than just go for the knockout.
Esteves showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Pitt.
Pitt swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Esteves stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
A slow jab from Esteves misses its intended target.
Pitt slips under a jab.
Esteves staying out of range there.
Esteves lunges at Pitt with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Pitt's hand.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pitt swings for the body but Esteves moves out of range.
Pitt throws a looping overhand right but Esteves ducks down to avoid it.
Esteves shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Esteves misses with a body shot.
Pitt swinging wildly here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Esteves walks into a stiff left hand from Pitt.


The cut above Raul Esteves's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Donk. Pitt catches Esteves right on the button with a cross.
Esteves tries to close the distance and clinch but Pitt swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Esteves ducks under a wild hook from Pitt.
Esteves slips a straight right by Pitt.
Pitt misses with a two punch combination.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Esteves throws a jab but it's blocked by Pitt.
Esteves walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.


Raul Esteves's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Pitt throws a right hand that Esteves ducks under and follows up with a left that Esteves also avoids with ease.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dirk Pitt dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Pitt throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Esteves.
Esteves ducks under a wild hook from Pitt.
Pitt uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Pitt is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Esteves moves away from the strike by Pitt.
Esteves misses the shot to the body.
Pitt is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Pitt scores with a hook to the body. Esteves takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Pitt fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Pitt dips to his left and cracks Esteves with an uppercut!
Pitt throws a hook to the side of Esteves's head but Esteves sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Dirk Pitt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pitt throws a shot from downtown. Esteves moves away and avoids it.
Esteves takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Raul Esteves's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:11 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Dirk Pitt!
