PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Demian Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sebastien Largemain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sebastien Largemain told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Paulo Santos and Daniel Cesar.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Largemain shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Maia's guard.
Maia is trying to keep Largemain in close.
Maia preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Largemain must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Largemain lands a couple of digs.

Maia has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Largemain can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Maia is trying to control the position but Largemain postures up.

Maia working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Largemain doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Largemain manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Largemain stands up from Maia's guard - Largemain perhaps looking for a knockout.

Maia shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Largemain napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Largemain is looking for a sweep.

Maia tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Maia has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Largemain struggling a bit here.
Largemain tries to buck Maia off but Maia is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Maia has an Americana. Largemain didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Maia is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Maia hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
