PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ben Dover (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jun Kimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dover's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, I'm Shipping up to Boston. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jun Kimura!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kimura has a takedown stuffed.
Dover just misses with a punch to the body.
Dover misses with a straight left.
Dover connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Kimura feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Dover wants to stand and escape but Kimura is having none of it.
Dover trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Dover utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Kimura is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kimura tries to free his leg and advance position but Dover is retaining full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Kimura shoots in and drives through. Dover sprawls well.
Ben Dover seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kimura takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Kimura avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Dover misses with a looping right.
Dover throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Kimura drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Dover wants to stand up but Kimura is controlling him.
Kimura trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Dover wants to get back to his feet but Kimura is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Kimura shoots in and bounces Dover off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Kimura drops back looking for a leg! Dover is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dover manages to kick Kimura off! Kimura jumps back into Dover's guard.
Kimura prevents Dover from getting back to his feet.
Kimura stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dover swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kimura forces his way into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kimura wants to pass to mount but Dover is defending the position.

Dover manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Ben Dover has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jun Kimura.
Kimura ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Dover looks to land a combination. Kimura sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Kimura fails with the takedown
and Dover counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Dover lands with a cross.
Dover scores with a jab. Kimura acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Dover throws a low kick, looking for Kimura's leg but Kimura calmly moves out of range.
Dover scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.


Kimura is rocked!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Dover fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Kimura square on the jaw! Damn, Kimura is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ben Dover!
