Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Austin Vera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vincent Pipkin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Austin Vera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vincent Pipkin!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, John Kavanagh and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pipkin throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Vera.
Pipkin misses with a few strikes there.
Pipkin throws a series of punches but Vera moves out of range.
Vera misses with a looping right.
Pipkin slips a straight right by Vera.
Vera connects with a good right hand that stumbles Pipkin. Pipkin circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Pipkin throws a head kick that misses.

Vera moves into range and clinches up with Pipkin.
Pipkin drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Vera gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Vera creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Pipkin has Vera pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Vera manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Pipkin is trying to break free.
Vera blocking some punches.
Pipkin is working for takedown but Vera is calmly controlling the position for now.
Austin Vera has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vincent Pipkin.

Vera using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Pipkin has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Pipkin ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Pipkin no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Pipkin is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Vera looking to sit in guard and control but Pipkin gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vera keeping moving, preventing Pipkin from controlling successfully.
Vera lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Pipkin!

Vera throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Pipkin tries to hold on but Vera postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Vera thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Vera moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Pipkin has worked his arm free - good work by Pipkin!
Vera working the ground and pound but Pipkin is defending the strikes.
The referee asks Vera politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Vera prefers to stall for the moment though.
Vera tries to advance to mount but Pipkin instead regains half guard.
Pipkin keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Vera perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pipkin wants to improve his position but Vera is controlling well.
Pipkin looks gassed!
Vera looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Vera uses his free foot to push down on Pipkin's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Pipkin.
Vera tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Vera wants to finish this one by submission but Pipkin is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Vera.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Vera thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Vera controlling from mount.
Vera's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Austin Vera dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Pipkin shoots in and drives through. Vera sprawls well.
Vera pivots, looking for a leg kick but Pipkin is out of range and Vera settles back down.
Pipkin looks to clinch

and Vera counters by clinching up.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Vera as Pipkin tries to tie him up.
Vera has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Pipkin avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Pipkin tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Vera just stands there and leans against the cage.
Vera is trying to force a seperation but Pipkin has the dominant position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Pipkin can't break the clinch.
Pipkin tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Pipkin managing to block the knees to the body from Vera.

Vera breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Vera is looking to clinch.
Vera misses with a looping right.
Pipkin jabbing away but nothing is landing.
No joy there for Pipkin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Pipkin is breathing heavily.
Pipkin throws a series of punches but Vera avoids them all with ease.
Pipkin shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Vera counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Vera.
Austin Vera has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vincent Pipkin.
Vera is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Vera passes Pipkin's left leg - he's now in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Still in half guard, Vera seems content to control.
Vera works his way into side control.
Vera creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Pipkin sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Vera has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Pipkin is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Vera yanks on the arm and Pipkin is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Vera.
