Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ico Hakuza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ico Hakuza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rick James!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Sosuke Kotani and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hakuza fails with an attempt to clinch.
Hakuza tries to clinch up.

James shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. James showed some decent athleticism there.
Hakuza pushes James off looking to stand but James dives back in and keeps control.
James thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hakuza's head.
James tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hakuza knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
James is taking a breather. Hakuza says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
James wants to control but Hakuza is keeping him busy.
James wants to pass the guard but Hakuza is defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
James stalling.
Let's hope that James has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
James tries to stand and escape but Hakuza is controlling the position.
Hakuza is looking to control James's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hakuza avoid being mounted?

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

James seems to be working for a kimura but Hakuza defends the submission attempt.

James seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Hakuza trying to hold on to James's head to control him but James postures up.
James wants to free his trapped foot but Hakuza is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hakuza tries to close the distance and clinch but James swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and James counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by James.
James is looking to work some ground and pound but Hakuza has wrist control.

James stands up and waves to Hakuza to follow him.

and James counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Hakuza is breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
James is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
James passes to side control.

James decides to stand back up. James steps back and let's Hakuza get back to his feet.
Hakuza looks to land a combination but James avoids it well.
James shoots for a takedown but Hakuza saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
James shoots in and drives through. Hakuza sprawls well.
Hakuza has his takedown stuffed

and James counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hakuza won't be happy with that.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rick James dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Hakuza closes the distance and clinches up with James, looking for a takedown. Hakuza pushes James against the cage but James circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

James bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Hakuza is trying to control James's posture but James avoids it.

James passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Hakuza!

Hakuza staying busy and making it hard for James to control.
Hakuza tries to escape but James has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rick James showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Hakuza's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!



James takes the fight into the clinch.
James misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Hakuza.

James breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hakuza shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and James counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
James wants to control but Hakuza is keeping him busy.
James is controlling the pace.
Hakuza trying to hold on to James's head to control him but James postures up.

Hakuza is in trouble now - James has advanced to mount!
Hakuza is in all sorts of trouble here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

James get's back to his feet.
James lands a nice looking kick to the body. Hakuza takes a step back to recover.
James looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
James tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ico Hakuza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hakuza tries for a takedown but James circles away easily
and James counters with a good, hard body kick but Hakuza shrugs it off.
James has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

James clinches up with Hakuza and pushes him back against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

James gets control of Hakuza's arms and successfully pulls guard. James will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Ico Hakuza has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
James pulls Hakuza in to control the position.
Hakuza throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as James works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rick James comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well James has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
