The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pereira attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Zappatista shoots for a double leg takedown but Pereira sprawls well. He's pushed Zappatista's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Zappatista throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Zappatista slips a jab and a cross from Pereira.
Zappatista throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Zappatista looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Pereira takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Zappatista takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Zappatista moves away from the strike by Pereira.
Zappatista will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Zappatista shoots in but Pereira avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zeburdiah Zappatista. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pereira misses with an uppercut. Zappatista saw that one coming.

Pereira throws a right hand that Zappatista ducks under and follows up with a left that Zappatista also avoids with ease.

Zeburdiah Zappatista seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pereira misses with a hook. Zappatista ducked under it nicely.

Pereira fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Zappatista.

Zappatista shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Pereira napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Pereira tries to improve position but can't.

Zappatista tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Zappatista has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
