PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Seb Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darrin McKanner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carter comes into the arena with Tequila-Knock you out blaring out of the sound system. Carter has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A cross from Carter lands.
Seb Carter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McKanner avoids the body shot from Carter.
Carter clobbers McKanner with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Carter lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
McKanner dodges the punch combination from Carter.
Carter misses with the combination.
Carter is breathing heavily.

McKanner closes the distance and clinches.
Carter wants to break the clinch but can't.
McKanner keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Carter's efforts to push away.
Carter wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but McKanner has him pressed against the cage.
McKanner prevents Carter from breaking the clinch.
Carter is looking to break free of the clinch but McKanner has double underhooks.
Carter really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
McKanner digs a right hand into Carter's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Carter's gas tank.
McKanner has Carter pressed against the cage, preventing Carter from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
A frustrated look appears on Carter's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Carter has had enough of the clinch but McKanner keeps him there for the moment.
McKanner keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Carter's efforts to push away.

McKanner shoots in for a takedown but Carter shows good takedown defense.
McKanner takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

McKanner closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Carter tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Carter manages to work his way to half guard, despite McKanner's best efforts.
Carter is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
McKanner looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Carter is looking for a sweep. McKanner is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Carter with the active half guard here but McKanner passes nicely into side control.

McKanner looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Carter is trying to improve his position.
McKanner lands an elbow.
McKanner in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Carter is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McKanner postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Carter to stand up.

Carter throws a nice looking combination but McKanner bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Darrin McKanner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

McKanner throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

McKanner drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Carter is trying to control the position but McKanner postures up.
McKanner wants to control from the top but Carter keeps moving.

McKanner gets to his feet - Carter follows without any prompting.
McKanner swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Carter counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Carter throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck McKanner on the side of the head.
McKanner slips a jab and a cross from Carter.
Carter throws a series of punches but McKanner moves out of range.
Carter lands with a right hand.
McKanner is looking to slow Carter down with leg kicks.

Carter is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
McKanner throws a lazy head kick
and Carter counters with a three punch combo that has McKanner backing up. McKanner nods at Carter to acknowledge the strikes.
McKanner with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Carter to score with a decent uppercut.
McKanner doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Seb Carter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

McKanner buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Carter takes an elbow to the forehead.
A left hand lands to the body for McKanner.

McKanner drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
McKanner stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
McKanner tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Carter just stands there and leans against the cage.
Seb Carter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Darrin McKanner.

McKanner gets control of Carter's arms and successfully pulls guard. McKanner will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
