The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pierre looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

kilhefner shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than kilhefner was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
kilhefner manages to capitalize on a mistake by Pierre to take his back!
Pierre turns into kilhefner and is now in his guard.
kilhefner wants to get back to his feet but Pierre is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Pierre wants to pass the guard but kilhefner is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pierre has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Pierre drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pierre jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Pierre wants to control from the top but kilhefner keeps moving.

Pierre stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. kilhefner swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Pierre throws out a loose jab but kilhefner uses good head movement to avoid it.

kilhefner is nestled in close to Pierre, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

kilhefner is keen to just control but Pierre is a slippery customer.

Oh but Pierre is tightening it up a little... kilhefner has to be careful here...
