Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Donnie Holnick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michiel de Ruyter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
de Ruyter looks to land a left hand but Holnick moved out of range nicely.
Holnick misses with a head kick.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from de Ruyter is defended easily by Holnick.

Holnick throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

de Ruyter jumps guard and drags Holnick to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
de Ruyter is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

de Ruyter wants to advance to full mount but Holnick doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

de Ruyter changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Holnick tries to avoid it but de Ruyter manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Holnick to the ground. Holnick escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
de Ruyter shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Holnick but Holnick pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
