Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brain Mutu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Manta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jose Manta is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jose Manta!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Ackerman and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Manta fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Mutu shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Mutu tries to pass the half guard into mount. Manta knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Mutu shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Manta is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mutu defends well.
Mutu stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Manta swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Manta manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mutu manages to get himself to full guard.
Mutu has Manta pulled in close to control his posture.

Manta shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Manta showed some decent athleticism there.

Brain Mutu overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Mutu kicks off Manta and gets to his feet.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Mutu crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Manta - the referee stops the clock and Mutu gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Manta. Mutu manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Mutu bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mutu is working to get back to half guard.
Mutu is squirming around, avoiding Manta's attempts to control the action.
Mutu tries to hold on but Manta postures up.

Mutu tries to lock up and control but Manta gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Mutu is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Manta slips a straight right by Mutu.
Manta throws a head kick that Mutu semi-blocks.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mutu fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Mutu is landing with some decent strikes but Manta is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Manta bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mutu keeping moving, preventing Manta from controlling successfully.
Manta prevents Mutu from getting back to his feet.

Mutu pushes Manta off and gets back to his feet.
Manta cracks Mutu with a right hand to the side of the head.
Jose Manta has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Brain Mutu is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mutu swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

And that's the end of the fight!
Brain Mutu showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mutu, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
