PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between TJ Maxx (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Alan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alan is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Fucking Hostile by Pantera. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, TJ Maxx!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Alan!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Mauricio Rocha and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maxx drops Alan with a beautiful combination! Alan stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Maxx is looking for the KO!


Alan is rocked!


It looks like James Alan has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Maxx looks to land a right hand but Alan moved out of range.
Alan is still on wobbly legs! Can Maxx finish him?
Maxx throws a jab when Alan was well out of range.
Maxx pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Alan seems to have recovered his senses.
A punch combination from Maxx misses.
Alan uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Maxx.
Alan has a takedown stuffed.
Alan swinging wilding here.
Maxx lands with a nice body punch.
Alan looks gassed!
Maxx throws a nice looking combination but Alan bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Alan fails with the takedown.
Maxx throws a hook to the side of Alan's head but Alan sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Maxx misses with the combination.

Maxx cracks Alan with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Maxx has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Alan to stand back up!
Maxx fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Maxx throws out a loose jab but Alan uses good head movement to avoid it.
Maxx throws a combination that misses

and Alan counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Alan.

Alan is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Maxx is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Alan slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Alan tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Alan goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Maxx rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Alan's guard! Nice work there by Maxx!

Alan is working an open guard so Maxx takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Maxx rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Alan moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Alan forces Maxx back against the cage and clinches.
Alan is looking to break free of the clinch but Maxx has double underhooks.

Maxx manages to break the clinch.
Alan fails with an attempt to clinch.
Maxx is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Alan's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Maxx jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Alan moves out of range of the strikes.
Alan steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Maxx.
Alan defending well as Maxx loads up on a big left hand.
Alan moves in looking to clinch but Maxx pushes him off.
Maxx is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Alan.
Alan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Maxx tries to avoid it but Alan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Maxx to the ground. Maxx escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
TJ Maxx has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Alan.
Maxx throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Maxx throws a big shot that misses.
Jab by Maxx.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Alan gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Maxx keeps the fight on the outside.
Maxx loads up on a big right hand but Alan slips the punch.
Maxx is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Alan.
Maxx swinging wilding here.

Alan closes the distance and clinches.
Alan changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Maxx fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Alan scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Alan stands up.
TJ Maxx is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Maxx throws a jab but it's blocked by Alan.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Maxx fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
A punch lands to the side of Alan 's head but he takes it in his stride.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Maxx misses with a wild body shot.
Alan moves in looking to clinch but Maxx pushes him off.
Maxx rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Alan moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Maxx circles away from the clinch attempt.
Maxx is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Alan takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Maxx misses with a hook.
Maxx throws an overhand right that lands on Alan's shoulder, as Alan tries to avoid the shot.
Alan doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Alan gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Maxx breaks from the clinch.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Alan.
Maxx lands with an overhand left.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

TJ Maxx dominated that round.
The cut man is working on James Alan's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Alan moves into the clinch successfully.
Maxx tries to break free but Alan pushes him back against the cage.
Alan has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Maxx is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Alan looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Maxx's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
TJ Maxx seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fight stays on the outside here - Alan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Maxx pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Alan swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Maxx.


It looks like TJ Maxx has been cut.

Alan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Maxx avoids it really well and circles away.
Maxx stuffs the takedown.

The crowd cheers as Maxx lands an impressive looking overhand right. Alan doesn't seem phased though.

Alan dodges the punch combination from Maxx.
Nice cross by Maxx.
Alan slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Maxx throws a hook but Alan blocks it.
Maxx jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Alan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Maxx pinned against the cage. Maxx gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Maxx misses with a series of wild punches.
Alan moves out of range as Maxx strikes.
Maxx misses with a looping right.
Maxx stuffs the takedown.
Alan tries to close the distance and clinch but Maxx swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Maxx swats away the attempt to clinch by Alan.
Maxx pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Maxx throws the left hand but Alan avoids the punch easily.

Alan clinches up with Maxx and pushes him back against the cage.

Maxx breaks from the clinch.
Maxx misses with a combination

and Alan counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Maxx's guard now.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Maxx is looking to stand up but Alan isn't so interested in that idea.

Alan drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Alan as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Maxx screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Alan! Nice submission victory there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). James Alan!
