The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sudo shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Punk should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Punk makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Punk.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Punk tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Punk looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Sudo postures up in Punk's guard and throws a big left but Punk blocks it.

Sudo controls from within his opponent's guard.
Sudo postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Punk swings for the body but Sudo moves out of range.
Sudo dives in and grabs Punk's left leg, looking for a takedown. Punk pushes down on Sudo's head and hops out.

Sudo seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Punk does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Punk misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Sudo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Sudo is looking to work some ground and pound but Punk has wrist control.
Sudo tries to stand but Punk is controlling from the bottom.
