Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Forrest Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Griffin's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Big Punisher- Beware. Forrest Griffin had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Forrest Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Stone!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Wesley Smith and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stone shoots in for a takedown but Griffin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Griffin clinches with his opponent.
Griffin throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Stone tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Griffin avoids it.
Stone creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Griffin's defenses.
Griffin makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Griffin managing to block the knees to the body from Stone.
Stone is pushing Griffin up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Stone throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Stone misses with a knee to the head.
Griffin blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Stone drops down looking for an ankle pick but Griffin pulls his leg out and moves away.

Stone bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Stone landing a few strikes.
Griffin is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Stone's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Griffin makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Griffin.

Griffin pushes Stone off and scrambles back to his feet.
Griffin misses with the combination.
Nice takedown defense from Griffin. No joy for Stone on that attempt.
Forrest Griffin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Stone.
Stone looks gassed!
Stone fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Griffin avoids it really well and circles away.
Griffin shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Stone has Griffin up against the cage in a clinch.
Griffin wants a takedown but no success here.
Griffin wants to break the clinch but can't.

Stone tries to land knees in the clinch but Griffin avoids the damage to the body.
Griffin is pressed up against the cage. Stone has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Griffin down to the mat. Griffin avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Stone bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Stone sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Griffin is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Stone really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Griffin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Griffin takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Griffin manages to get back to half guard.
Griffin works his way to full guard. Good work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stone is on the wrong end of a couple of strikes there.
Griffin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Griffin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Stone manages to get himself to full guard.
Griffin stops Stone from standing up.
Stone is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Griffin trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Griffin's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Griffin passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Griffin is putting a hurting on Stone here, landing some big shots from side control.
Stone pushes Griffin away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Griffin gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Griffin.
Stone is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Griffin is controlling him well.
Griffin tries to score with some ground and pound. Stone controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Stone is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Stone dodges the ground and pound from Griffin.

Griffin stands up.
Griffin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Forrest Griffin will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Stone tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Griffin counters with a head kick. That will keep Stone thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Stone shoots in for a double leg but Griffin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Stone misses with a takedown

and Griffin decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Stone's guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Stone dodges the ground and pound from Griffin.
Stone wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Griffin postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Stone is trying to buck Griffin off.
Griffin looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Stone is avoiding damage well.
Griffin connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Stone some visible discomfort.
Stone is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Griffin asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Griffin grinds an elbow into Stone's temple.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Griffin counters with a left and a right that stings Stone.
Stone tries to clinch but Griffin is having none of it.

Griffin looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Stone wants to get back to his feet.
Griffin is keen to just control but Stone is a slippery customer.

Griffin takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Stone pushes Griffin off looking to stand but Griffin dives back in and keeps control.
Griffin thows a huge punch but Stone dodges it nicely.
Griffin frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Stone's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stone can do anything to dispel that myth.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Stone really wants to buck Griffin off and get back to his feet.

The fight stays on the outside here - Griffin looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Stone rushes Griffin and presses him up against the cage.
Stone will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Griffin up against the cage.
Griffin wants to break free but Stone has control.
Griffin is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Stone works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Griffin throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Griffin tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Griffin has a closed guard, preventing Stone from standing up.

Griffin is looking for a triangle but Stone pushes his legs off easily.
Griffin doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Stone scoring with some ground and pound.

Griffin pushes a forearm under Stone's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Stone is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
