PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Khris King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Crazy Karl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Khris King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Crazy Karl!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Arvi Lind and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karl shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
King lands a nice looking body kick.

Karl closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. King did well to prevent Karl getting side control.
King is trying to get back to full guard.

Karl is looking for a kimura but King is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Karl to get the leverage.
King moves into full guard.
King looking for a sweep. Not yet King, not yet.
Karl wants to get up but he can't break King's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

King is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Karl is aware though and is defending well.
Karl throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Karl trying to control but King is working from the bottom.

King looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Karl postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Karl thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Karl slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Karl tries to free his leg and advance position but King is retaining full guard.
Karl is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
King keeping moving, preventing Karl from controlling successfully.

King is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Karl is aware though and is defending well.
Karl is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Karl trying to control the position from guard on top but King is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
King throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Karl tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from King - that will leave a mark!
Karl shoots in but King avoids the takedown attempt easily.
King wants to clinch up but Karl keeps it at a distance.

Karl shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. King is trying to defend but Karl finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

King is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
King on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
King is not content to let Karl control the position.

Karl looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Karl is working for a kimura but King is defending it quite comfortably.

Karl seems to be looking for submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Karl wants to lay and pray for a moment but King keeps working.

King looking for submissions off his back.
Karl is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

King looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
King wants to sweep but Karl has passed to side control!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Crazy Karl dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Karl darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Karl throwing shots but King is blocking nicely.
Karl keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
King wants to control but Karl is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Karl looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
King is trying to maintain the position but Karl is very close to passing his half guard.

Karl looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
King is trying to stand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
King wants to get back to full guard but Karl has passed into side control.
Karl lands with some strikes.
Karl working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Karl breaks from King's wrist control and lands an elbow.
King takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Karl unloading with bombs!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Karl scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish King?
Karl pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Karl is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. King can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Karl is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Karl throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Karl shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches King napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Karl connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused King some visible discomfort.

Karl trying to control the position but King is working away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Karl wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by King, who protects the arm well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
King is not content to let Karl control the position.
King tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Karl wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
King wants to control but Karl postures up.
Karl controls the position.

Karl has hold of King's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! King tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Karl cranks the arm and King screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from King, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Crazy Karl!
