Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Glen Tyson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Glen Tyson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tyson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Tyson is taking a breather. Hughes says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Tyson has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Tyson tries to control but Hughes wriggling away.
Tyson lands with some strikes.
Tyson throwing strikes here but Hughes is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Hughes keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Tyson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Tyson throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Tyson lands a heavy elbow.
Tyson unloads with some shots from mount but Hughes bucks and avoids them well.

Tyson jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Hughes manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Tyson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hughes, who protects the arm well.
Hughes can't do much from the bottom here.

Tyson throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Hughes is not content to let Tyson control the position.

Tyson decides to stand back up.
Hughes looks gassed!
Hughes keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Tyson tries to clinch but Hughes moves out of range.
Tyson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Tyson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Glen Tyson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tyson wants to clinch up but Hughes keeps it at a distance.
Hughes stuffs the takedown.

Hughes shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Tyson is trying to defend but Hughes finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Hughes is working for a kimura but Tyson is defending it quite comfortably.

Hughes lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Tyson slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hughes looking to sit in guard and control but Tyson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Tyson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hughes swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Hughes decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Tyson's guard.

Tyson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hughes is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Hughes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tyson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tyson is on top in guard.
Tyson wants to control from the top but Hughes keeps moving.
Tyson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hughes's head.
Hughes wants to stand and escape but Tyson is having none of it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

and Hughes counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Tyson!

Hughes works his way into full mount!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hughes wants to control the pace but Tyson is squirming around nicely.
Tyson tries to reverse the position but Hughes maintains control.

Tyson is wriggling around trying to escape.
Hughes is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Tyson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Matt Hughes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Tyson throws a sloppy head kick and Hughes moves out of range easily.

Glen Tyson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Hughes.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Tyson.

and Hughes counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hughes.
Tyson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Hughes cracks Tyson with a solid left hand.
Hughes trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Tyson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Tyson is looking to stand up but Hughes isn't so interested in that idea.

Tyson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hughes's guard.
Hughes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Tyson is looking to work some ground and pound but Hughes has wrist control.

Matt Hughes comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Hughes has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
