The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gabriel gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Gabriel shoots in and bounces Burrows off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Burrows looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gabriel is stalling in the full guard.
Burrows really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gabriel. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Gabriel throws a big right hand that misses.
Gabriel prevents Burrows from getting back to his feet.
Gabriel is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Gabriel has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gabriel is defended easily by Burrows.
Burrows lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Burrows looks to land a combination but Gabriel avoids it well.
Gabriel is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Burrows.
Burrows lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Burrows.

Burrows throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Gabriel seems to have got his legs back now.

Gabriel rushes Burrows and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Gabriel works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Burrows is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Gabriel controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Burrows is trying to hold Gabriel in close to prevent damage but Gabriel has managed to pass into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gabriel feints and as Burrows raises his hands in defense, Gabriel changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Gabriel slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Gabriel controls the position.

Gabriel is working to tighten is grip on Burrows's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Burrows has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Gabriel is really squeezing tight and eventually Burrows passes out! Gabriel breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
