Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Luke Barnard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Keating (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jeff Keating looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Luke Barnard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jeff Keating!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, James Glass and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Keating shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Barnard as he jumps to the side.
Keating tries to score a power double leg takedown but Barnard sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Keating somewhat.
Keating is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Barnard stuffs the takedown attempt from Keating. Keating gets slowly back to his feet.
Luke Barnard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeff Keating.

Keating gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Barnard postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Barnard wants the takedown. Keating is fighting it off but Barnard persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Keating's guard against the cage.
Barnard knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Keating on the ground.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Barnard accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Barnard wants to get up but he can't break Keating's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Barnard shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Barnard fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Keating sprawls well initially but Barnard persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Barnard has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Keating regains guard immediately.
Keating is trying to control the position but Barnard postures up.
Barnard throws and elbow that misses. Keating uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Barnard's guard. Nice move by Keating!
Keating wants to control from the top but Barnard keeps moving.

Barnard kicks Keating off and gets to his feet.
Keating has his takedown stuffed

and Barnard holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Barnard counters with a series of strikes. Keating will be more careful next time no doubt.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
