Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marcus Saplin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jeff Hundahl!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Winston Howard and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hundahl shoots in and drives through. Saplin sprawls well.
Saplin circles away from the clinch attempt.
Hundahl shoots in for a double leg but Saplin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hundahl shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Saplin sprawls well. Saplin wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hundahl gets slowly back to his feet.
Marcus Saplin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeff Hundahl.
Hundahl misses with a takedown attempt - Saplin sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Hundahl tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Hundahl counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Saplin tries to kick Hundahl off but Hundahl keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Hundahl wants to take a breather but Saplin is having none of it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hundahl is landing with some decent strikes but Saplin is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Hundahl tries to control but Saplin wriggling away.
Hundahl sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Saplin tries to buck Hundahl off but he can't manage it.
Hundahl controlling his opponent.
Let's hope that Hundahl has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
I looks like Hundahl might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jeff Hundahl dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Hundahl is looking to break free of the clinch but Saplin has double underhooks.
Saplin keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Hundahl's efforts to push away.
Saplin tries a knee to the head but Hundahl blocks it.
Saplin throws a knee to the head but misses.

Saplin throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Saplin using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Hundahl has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Hundahl tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Saplin just stands there and leans against the cage.

Saplin keeps control of Hundahl as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Saplin connects with a nasty looking knee right to Hundahl's face.


It looks like Jeff Hundahl has been cut.
Saplin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Hundahl is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Saplin pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Hundahl tries to stall but Saplin uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Saplin has the Thai clinch. He lands a big knee to the head that stumbles Hundahl - he's in trouble! Another big knee to the head from Saplin, and another! Hundahl is out on his feet - the ref jumps in to save him and ends the fight!
