PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marmaduke Cholmondley Smythe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Carrow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Cholmondley Smythe might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to He is an Englishman. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cholmondley Smythe slips a straight right by Carrow.
Cholmondley Smythe avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Cholmondley Smythe steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Carrow.
Cholmondley Smythe looks for a takedown but Carrow sprawls well.
Cholmondley Smythe fails with the takedown.
Some bone on bone action there as Cholmondley Smythe checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Cholmondley Smythe shoots in looking for a takedown. Carrow tries to sprawl out of it but Cholmondley Smythe keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Carrow manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Carrow is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Cholmondley Smythe shoots in for a double leg but Carrow sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

and Cholmondley Smythe counters with a nice double leg into side control. Carrow won't be happy with that.
Cholmondley Smythe works to advance to full mount. Carrow defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Carrow is trying desperately to improve position.

Carrow is not content to let Cholmondley Smythe control the position.
Carrow makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Carrow.

Carrow looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Cholmondley Smythe has picked Carrow up and slammed him! Carrow can't keep hold of the triangle and Cholmondley Smythe manages to pass to side control!

Carrow is looking to regain half guard here but Cholmondley Smythe keeps moving and retains side control.
Cholmondley Smythe looks up at the clock and then as Carrow takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Cholmondley Smythe smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Carrow tries to clinch there but Cholmondley Smythe circles away.

and Cholmondley Smythe counters by moving into the clinch.
Cholmondley Smythe is pressed up against the ropes. Carrow has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Cholmondley Smythe down to the mat. Cholmondley Smythe avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Carrow gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Carrow throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Cholmondley Smythe escapes and throws Carrow's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Carrow scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.

Carrow is working for a rear naked choke. Cholmondley Smythe is not defending it well and Carrow has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Cholmondley Smythe refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Cholmondley Smythe 's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
