PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chili Con Carne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dond Bond (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chili Con Carne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dond Bond!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Saam Ante and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bond tries to close the distance and clinch but Con Carne swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Bond lands a big head kick that sends Con Carne tumbling to the mat! Bond takes a step backwards and waves Con Carne back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Chili Con Carne has been cut.
Con Carne tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Con Carne closes the distance and clinches up with Bond, looking for a takedown. Con Carne pushes Bond against the cage but Bond circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Con Carne shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bond defends it nicely.
Bond throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Con Carne fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bond avoids it really well and circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chili Con Carne. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bond misses with a series of wild punches.
Bond tries a head kick but it misses.
Bond lands with a thumping leg kick.

Bond lands a left and a right that send Con Carne crashing to the mat, dazed. Bond thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Con Carne is rocked!

Bond instigates a clinch.
Oh Con Carne is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Bond pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Con Carne shoots in looking for a takedown. Bond tries to sprawl out of it but Con Carne keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bond manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Con Carne seems to have got his legs back now.
Con Carne is breathing heavily.
Bond tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Con Carne paws at him with a jab and circles away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Con Carne avoids the head kick by Bond.
Bond throws a head kick that misses.
Bond lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
The fight stays on the outside here - Bond looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Bond has Con Carne up against the cage in a clinch.

Bond breaks from the clinch.

Con Carne decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Con Carne wants to take a breather but Bond is having none of it.
Bond won't allow Con Carne to pass to mount.
Con Carne seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Bond is trying to stand back up but Con Carne is controlling him

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Con Carne is thwarting Bond's attempts to control the position.
Bond really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Con Carne. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bond pushes Con Carne off looking to stand but Con Carne dives back in and keeps control.
Con Carne is looking to take a break and control but Bond is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Con Carne stalling.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Bond tries to clinch up.
Bond leaves Con Carne with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Con Carne closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bond to the mat! Bond manages to get full guard.
Con Carne stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bond swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bond wants to stand but Con Carne is controlling the position.
Bond is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Con Carne drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Con Carne jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Con Carne thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bond can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Con Carne controls the pace.

Con Carne is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Bond is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Bond has escaped and now he's on top!
Con Carne is pulling down on Bond's head to control his posture.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Con Carne wants to control but Bond passes easily into half guard.
Bond wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dond Bond dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Chili Con Carne's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Chili Con Carne is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Con Carne dives in and grabs Bond's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bond pushes down on Con Carne's head and hops out.
Bond tries a head kick but it misses.
Bond throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Con Carne throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bond was covering up waiting for the punch and Con Carne finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Bond will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Con Carne is stalling in the full guard.
Con Carne seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bond for as long as he can get away with.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Con Carne pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bond is keeping the position for now.

Con Carne drops back looking for a leg! Bond is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bond manages to kick Con Carne off! Con Carne jumps back into Bond's guard.
Bond wants to stand but Con Carne is controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Con Carne trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Con Carne closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Bond did well to prevent Con Carne getting side control.
Bond is breathing heavily.
Con Carne controlling the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Con Carne seems to be working for a kimura but Bond defends the submission attempt.

Con Carne is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Con Carne works his way into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Con Carne tries to advance to mount but can't.

Con Carne tries for a kimura but Bond is defending well.

Con Carne thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Bond is pushing Con Carne's head away, looking to escape. Con Carne manages to hold on to the position though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Con Carne tries for a kimura but Bond is defending well.

Con Carne is working to tighten is grip on Bond's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Bond has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Con Carne is really squeezing tight and eventually Bond passes out! Con Carne breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Chili Con Carne!
