PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bradford Piper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and RAY MOCCO (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Paul Tew and James Atkins.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MOCCO shoots in looking for a takedown. Piper tries to sprawl out of it but MOCCO keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Piper manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A head kick from Piper lands but MOCCO takes it in his stride.

It looks like RAY MOCCO has been cut.
Piper shoots in looking for a takedown. MOCCO tries to sprawl out of it but Piper keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. MOCCO manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Piper tries to clinch up but MOCCO circles away and keeps his distance.
Piper lands a front kick.

Piper throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. MOCCO was covering up waiting for the punch and Piper finishes the takedown easily into guard.
MOCCO is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Piper pushes MOCCO off but MOCCO dives into side control.
MOCCO wants to control but Piper is keeping him busy.
MOCCO taking a break here but Piper is having none of it and regains half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Piper is trying to maintain the position but MOCCO is very close to passing his half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
MOCCO trying to control the action but Piper is working from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Piper wants to clinch.
MOCCO slips a jab and a cross from Piper.
A nice inside leg kick there by Piper. That's going to slow MOCCO down.

Piper closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
MOCCO on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Piper passes to full mount! That's big trouble for MOCCO!

Piper is breathing heavily.

Piper looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Piper is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But MOCCO has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from MOCCO!
MOCCO tries to free his leg and advance position but Piper is retaining full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
MOCCO slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Piper keeping moving, preventing MOCCO from controlling successfully.
Piper manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

MOCCO somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bradford Piper dominated that round.
The cut man is working on RAY MOCCO's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

MOCCO digs a good hook to Piper's body.
Piper fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
MOCCO doesn't manage to clinch there - Piper circles away.

Piper shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches MOCCO napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Piper is looking to take a break and control but MOCCO is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
MOCCO can't do much from the bottom here.
MOCCO might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Piper kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

MOCCO strikes from the bottom but Piper takes advantage and advances to full mount!

MOCCO tries to control the position but Piper now has his back.

Piper has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
MOCCO trying to control the hands but Piper won't let him.

Piper just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Piper throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
MOCCO wants to escape the position.

MOCCO trying to control the action but Piper just sinks the hooks in.

Piper has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. MOCCO is defending well but eventually Piper manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! MOCCO has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
