The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daddy looks to land a combination but Widaca avoids it well.
John Widaca seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Widaca dodges the punch combination from Daddy.
A looping hook to the body misses from Daddy. Widaca does a little dance to reset his feet.
Daddy tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Widaca escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Widaca thuds his right hand into Daddy's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Widaca throws the left hand but Daddy avoids the punch easily.

Widaca throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Daddy blocks it with crossed arms.

Widaca escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Widaca misses with a straight left.
Widaca fails with an attempt to clinch.
Daddy misses with a takedown attempt
and Widaca cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Widaca feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Daddy's calf.
Widaca bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Daddy's head.
Daddy wants to clinch up but Widaca keeps it at a distance.
Widaca might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Widaca lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Daddy at a distance.

Widaca thumps Daddy with a low kick.
Widaca feints and then cracks Daddy's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Daddy down.

Widaca clinches.
Daddy goes for a takedown attempt but Widaca pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for BIG Daddy. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Widaca lands a head shot.
Widaca will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Daddy takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Daddy with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Widaca to score with a decent uppercut.

Widaca finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Daddy closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Widaca is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Daddy.
Widaca's corner calls for a 1-2. Widaca obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Daddy will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Daddy shoots in but Widaca avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Widaca scores with a jab. Daddy acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Widaca cracks Daddy with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Widaca fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Daddy is out of range.

Daddy shoots for a takedown but Widaca saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Daddy throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Widaca's waist but Widaca gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Daddy off to one side.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Widaca swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Daddy.
Oh Daddy is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Daddy. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Widaca tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
