Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Thie Lion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hidalgo Montoya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thie Lion!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hidalgo Montoya!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Alexandre Firmino and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lion fails with an attempt to clinch.
Lion slips a jab and a cross from Montoya.
Montoya throws a right and a left that Lion avoids nicely.
Lion really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Lion fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Montoya avoids it really well and circles away.
Thie Lion seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Montoya lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lion circles away quickly and effectively.
Montoya fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Lion throws the kick towards the body but Montoya avoids it.

Lion throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Montoya escapes and throws Lion's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Lion is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Lion is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Montoya pulls his head out easily.

Montoya is trying to work for a kimura but Lion is defending well.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Montoya seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lion does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Montoya throws a right hand that Lion ducks under and follows up with a left that Lion also avoids with ease.
Lion doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Lion tries for a takedown but Montoya sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Lion throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Montoya was covering up waiting for the punch and Lion finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Montoya is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Montoya is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lion defends well.

Lion drops back, looking for a kneebar! Montoya looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Montoya looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Montoya!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Lion takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Lion takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Montoya closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Montoya looks to land a combination. Lion sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Lion misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Montoya swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Montoya moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Montoya!

Montoya will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Lion gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Montoya throws a right and a left that Lion avoids nicely.
Montoya connects with a good right hand that stumbles Lion. Lion circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Montoya throws a nice looking combination but Lion bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Montoya stalks Lion and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Lion's face. Lion staggers backwards, shaken.

Montoya does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Montoya lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

I've got Montoya winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
